About me

My name is Tobias (He/Him/His). I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Minnesota and North Dakota with 12 years of professional work experience.
I have clinical experience in helping clients with all sorts of challenges in life such as, coping with disabilities (especially with hearing loss and cerebral palsy), managing depression, intimacy related issues (more than the one type of intimacy that most people think of), overcoming less-effective coping strategies, life changing events, relationship issues, & stress and anxiety to name a few.
My therapeutic approach follows evidence-based therapeutic interventions, which include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered/Strengths Based, Psychodynamic, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Emotion Regulation Skills System. I was raised as a Christian, and I feel that God called me to be a therapist. I do not force my beliefs onto anyone. Only upon request will I incorporate Christian prinicples into the therapeutic process and treatment.
I have many roles in life, in addition to being a therapist, I was born in the United States, I am white, and an English speaker. I have a minor disability since birth. I am a son and a brother in a blended family. I am also an advocate, a father, a friend, a mentor, a student of life, as well as a teacher by heart.
I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion regardless of your background, BIPOC, creed, disability, LGBTQIA+, alternative lifestyle, or religion. I also strive to be culturally affirming and respect the positive elements that all cultures can provide to a client's sense of well-being. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage, and I am glad that you are seeking support at this time. Let's get started!

In just my first 2 sessions I’ve learned a great deal about myself and even more about how much I need to work on myself. I’ve regained a sense of self worth, even though I’m aware that I have much further to go. Tobias has been a true God send.
