Gretchen Law, LCSW
About me
I am a licensed clinical social worker in Connecticut and have been in practice for 29 years. In addition to working as a private practice clinician I have worked in a variety of settings doing psychiatric clinical work including in-patient settings, emergency room psychiatric evaluations and substance abuse treatment. In 1992 I founded and directed a residential program for adults in New Haven, CT. I have worked with a wide range of individuals, some with serious, long term psychiatric illnesses and others who are seeking support for specific and time limited issues. Of course, everything in-between.
My style is supportive and eclectic. The client and therapist work as a team to clarify issues and to explore avenues toward an increased sense of personal strength and well being for the client. The work together involves a relationship that is fluid and safe. I work well with a wide variety of people and issues and am not afraid of the complexities that come with being human - whatever they may be. I am at home with people from multiple cultures, ethnicities, socio-economic and educational backgrounds - and with people of all ages. The work is really important to me. I have a good sense of humor and a relaxed, calming style.
I would very much look forward to meeting with you.

Gretchen is a great listener. I find it very helpful to talk out my problems and feelings to her. I feel she is non biased and helps with trying to make your situations easier and gives you feedback based off of your personality traits. I enjoy having her as a counselor.
